Who'd like to go first?

I have an idea. Let's just chat amongst ourselves. Who wants to make the first comment?

Oooo! Oooo! I will! I will! Let's see - I can say, er.. um, wait no, that won't work. Let's see, hmmm... Oh, yeah, I was at work today and... oh, wait, that's boring. Um....Harrumph! Guess I don't have much to say after all. Dang! I wanted to be first. :-(

Oh! I know what I wanted to say now........

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY FOUR-DAY WEEKEND, YA'LL!

Okay, so it's a bit premature. But who cares?

Love you!

Maybe I should look into setting up that discussion board for all of us.

I have an idea (and I could almost see Tooz roll her eyes with dread ha ha ha)

Ask a question with no one answer. Like, if you were one of the Designing Women, which one would you be?

I'd be Julia Sugarbaker. With Suzanne Sugarbaker's body.

I think I'd be Mary Jo. There's actually a quiz on Lifetimetv.com you can take to see which Designing Woman you are. I'll take it and let you know what it says.

(syzaxon - is that a combination of a sicillian and a saxon?)

Becca said...

A Sicilian and a Saxon? Don't go against him in a battle of brawn OR a battle of wits!

I'd like to think I'd be Julia, but I'm afraid I'd be much closer to Bernice.

Jenn-Jenn, the Mother Hen said...

Yup. I was right. I'm Mary Jo. The URL of the Designing Women page is:

www.lifetimetv.com/shows/deswomen/

The quiz was pretty humorous. And I loved that show, but after they brought in Bernice and the other new ones, it was pretty sad.

Jenn-Jenn, the Mother Hen said...

Unless of course the sicillian part of you is related to Vizzini. Of course, that would be inconceivable.

Bet you can guess what movie I watched last night!

Bernice was my absolute favorite. I think I have a little mary jo in me and some Suzanne and some Julia. I'll have to go take the quiz and see what it says. And I used to have a crush on Anthony.

I'd like to be Charleen. She was often ditzy, but never completely without value. She came up with some of the best ideas--and she had the most fulfilling life outside the house.

Now if we were talking Golden Girls, I'd have to say Sophia.

Tooz said...

The quiz had the gall to say I was Suzanne Sugarbaker, I, who never had a beauty-conscious moment in my life! How ridiculuous!

Becca said...

It said I was Mary Jo.

ann said...

I got mary jo and charlene mixed up when I was comparing. I htink i'm more like charlene than mary jo. but i guess i should take the quiz and find out.

Golden Girls! Another wonderful show (created by the same man who created Desperate Housewives).

I think I would be Dorothy now, but I can remember a time when I was more of a Blanche. LOL

Jenn-Jenn, the Mother Hen said...

Ann, I immediately thought of you as being Charlene! We're such funny, punny women.

Lydia said...

I"d like to think of myself as Julia, but I can't talk nearly as fast as she does when its time to tell someone off. I'd probably end up saying, with her thick "suthun" accent "Well, Yuh're Momma". I'm probably Charlene, but I'm not going to take the quiz. I was convicted about watching the Lifetime network about a year or two ago and have yet to turn it on. Praise the Lord! (going to the site would be too much of a temptation)

As for golden girls, My daddy has a name for them, but I won't share because its not nice. I don't want to be compared with any of them, though.

Which kid would you be on the Cosby show? What was the oldest daughter's name? Shondra? I would've been her. (You could be the parents if you want or even a female version of Theo, or better yet, Cockroach!)

A few years ago, I know i would have been cockroach, cause he was so annoying and always butting in for supper (or was that the friend on Fresh Prince?). But I have recently discovered that I am not so cockroachy now. At times, I've been very Vanessa, like in teh episode where she told all her friends she was rich, and her parents were like, "You're not rich, we're rich. You're poor." I've been guilty of that a lot...trying to ride on others' coattails. But that's not me right now, either (i promise i'm looking for a job). I'd love to say I was Rudy, who is so adorable, especially when singing Jazz solos, and playing make believe, adn I think I was like her as a little girl. I went through a Denise stage, especially identifying with the way she dressed (though my clothes were never that cool). Now, though, I think I can most identify with Theo. He struggled a lot in school, loved his parents but wasn't always completely obedient, was pretty dingy, always had a crush on somebody, then went on to settle down a little in college and learn that he had a learning disability and do okay in school, and found that he really enjoyed helping others.

I took that way too far, didn't i?

ann said...

I think daddy had a similar name for the Designing Women.

Email me and tell me about your lifetime testmiony, if you want, lydia, but if you don't want to, that's cool!

oh, and that reminds me, Jennifer, if you promise never to do it, I'll send you an email and tell you about that noise.

Tooz said...

Nope, Anny, you didn't. I would like to be Claire. I loved her clothes and her coolness. Anybody else out there want to be a Cosby?

Becca said...

I'd be a cross between Cliff, since I have a few questionable sweaters, and Olivia, purely for the cute factor.

As for Golden Girls, I'm probably more of a Rose. I sometimes forget I told Tom something and I'll tell him again, and I'm constantly doing that "One time, in Atlanta..." or "One time, in college...." In total band camp voice, too.

At least Everett could honestly say, "Back in St. Olaf..." and get away with it.

Everett said...

I don't really have much to say here. I just couldn't let the wonderful word verification, ketfuke, pass without notice. I was Mary Jo

Becca said...

ogeky.

Seemed agreeable.

If I were a Cosby, I'd be Denise. She was always a bit of a rebel and she thought for herself. I can 'git wit dat'.

Alex says I'm JUST like Roseanne. The good news is, he doesn't say that in public :)

I used to know a lady who was just like Roseanne, and her sister was just like Jackie. That was pretty cool.

I always thought, of all the tv families, ours was most like Roseanne. Our house, at least, was a lot like Roseanne's.

Let's see - who would I have been on Cosby? Can it be a Cosby spin-off? Because I think I'm kind of like a female Dwayne Wayne. I get on people's nerves, but you can't help but like me. I'm a know-it-all-smart alec, but in a (mostly) funny, sarcastic trying-not-to-hurt-anyone's-feelings, way. And I'm a total nerd, but I like to think I'm cool. Yep, I'm Dwayne Wayne all right (but I don't want to marry Whitley).

Tooz said...

Shoot, I didn't even know the Cosby show had spin-offs. I guess I missed a bunch of tv somewhere.

Jenn-Jenn, the Mother Hen said...

After Denise went to college, they did quite a few story lines of her at school. Then it became so popular that they made a spin-off called "A Different World". (Trivia - that's where Jada Pinkett Smith got her first "major" TV role.) When college was over for Denise - she dropped out - the spin-off kept going, and Denise later returned to Cosby with Olivia, her step-daughter.

New post! New post!

Just post a new topic, if you want, and let us go again.

Or have a conversation with yourself, and then we'll chime in.
